Private chefs in Connecticut
Private chef in Connecticut
A private chef in Connecticut is dinner at home an hour from the city or a few hours from it: a Greenwich dining room on a weeknight, a shoreline porch in August, a farmhouse table in the northwest hills in October. Indulge cooks across the state, from Fairfield County along the shoreline to Stonington, and up into Litchfield County.
Fairfield County: Greenwich to Westport
Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Westport and Southport are close enough to Manhattan that dinner at home is a weeknight decision, not only a weekend one. Many houses here have kitchens built for entertaining, and alongside birthdays and dinner parties we cook client dinners, board dinners and holiday parties at home. Michael cooks tasting menus and family-style dinners alike, and Dominique runs the service so the hosts can sit down with their guests.
In summer the tables move outside: terraces above the Sound in Old Greenwich and Rowayton, pool houses in New Canaan, and Westport lawns running down to the water.
The shoreline: Madison to Stonington
East of New Haven the coast turns into summer country: shingled houses in Madison and Guilford, the river towns of Essex and Old Lyme near the mouth of the Connecticut River, and the old fishing village of Stonington near the Rhode Island line. These are July and August houses, full of family and guests, and a chef in the house means everyone eats well without anyone spending the day in the kitchen.
Menus start with the water. Oysters are farmed along the Connecticut coast from Greenwich to Stonington, and a dinner might open with a raw bar and move on to local fish, lobster, corn and tomatoes.
Litchfield County and the northwest hills
Litchfield, Washington, Kent and Salisbury are weekend-house country for New Yorkers, and October is the busiest month there. We cook weekend stays, foliage dinner parties and holiday dinners in farmhouses, barns and lake houses across the hills. Litchfield County has its own page, with the towns, the seasons and how a weekend with a chef works.
How a Connecticut booking works
Send an inquiry with the date, the town and the number of guests, and whether it is a dinner, an event or a stay. Michael writes a menu around the season and the setting, from Sound oysters in the cooler months to corn and tomatoes in August, and refines it with you. On the night the team arrives a couple of hours before guests, cooks, serves and leaves the kitchen as it found it. Shopping, service and cleanup are part of it. Please email for pricing and availability.
